I ran a filemon on my computer as I was opening the file and saw it was attempting to read and write a file located under C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\6WBGVSLW\UKYNMWF7\Offline\e

There may be alphabetical subfolders in the Offline folder – search for the folder that contains file type you were trying to open and delete all the contents of that folder.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following path: c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet files\CacheFolderID Data Value\Offline (replace the Data Value with the actual value). The value may look like a random set of capital letters and numbers – Ex: \6WBGSLVW\LKYNMWF7. Type the Data value of the CacheFolderID into Notepad. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSDAIPP and the folder should contain a CacheFolderID. Exit the browser and try to open the document again.
